My wife and I dropped in for dinner tonight. Wow what an awesome experience! The decor and ambiance is very cozy and inviting. In this case I get use the word cozy and keep my man card. So the staff is super friendly and all work together. The owners, three ladies, were milling around greeting and making the guests feel welcome. The food was very very good. We had a portobello mushroom with crabmeat and balsamic reduction, lobster bisque, lamb sliders and cod sliders. Next trip will be Shepard's pie and bangers and mash. Oh and the Gaelic music playing gives the diners a very upbeat festive feel. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!

Best Beef in Jax! What to say about this place...Big Servings, great service, fun concert/event nights in the bar, great drink menu and so much more! Having been to the UK I can honestly say this food is authentic and delicious! If you are craving some fish n' chips this is the place to go.

Went there with two friends and were blown away! Great atmosphere and even greater food. We all ordered the corned beef sandwiches with steak fries. Delish. Will be back!!

We went to Culhane's after it was featured on Diners, Drive ins and Dives! We were so happy we did. Great atmosphere, perfect service and absolutely delicious food. We had the Shepherd's Pie and the Fish and chips, topped off with a slice of homemade carrot cake. This will definitely be on our list to return to each time we are in the Jax area!

It's hard to find really good Irish food in Jacksonville, but Culhanes has hit the nail on the head. The atmosphere is very dark and set up like an actual Irish Pub! I feel like I am in Ireland every time I go in there. This place does get pretty packed out, but the staff seems to be fully trained and ready for it. They have a lot of weekly activities, like trivia two times a week and karaoke one night. The promotional models for liquor companies are always in there giving away merchandise and FREE drinks!!! The best part about Culhanes is that the bar and the restaurant are separate. You can order food at the bar or one of the high tops they have, and have a "party" atmosphere, or you can sit down to a nice dinner in a quiet area. They really did a great job with set up here. PS: Sheppards Pie is DELICIOUS.

Never had a bad meal here!! Be it brunch, lunch or dinner. Friendly people, good beer, awesome food. It's all good!!

Took my parents here after the American national men's team beat Nigeria on a Saturday night. Sat on the bar side as opposed to the restaurant side. At first it was a little loud for conversation but then the karaoke dj started setting up. Hilarity ensued. A great crowd and good vibes were had for entertainment as people were mixing it up and singing their hearts out. All in all the food was good (as always), the drinks were good, the server was nice and attentive and the karaoke provided entertainment.

Wow, where to begin.... my husband and I are still seething from our experience. We are locals and have been wanting to go here for years. We finally got the chance tonight. I'll start from the beginning. We ordered the potato skins appetizer and it was good, plenty of cheese but only 4 pieces for $7.95. They are the reason I gave one star, the highlight of the evening. I got the corned beef and cabbage dinner. The corned beef was horrible. Very dry and very salty. The potatoes were very dense, cafeteria style scoop, nice garlic flavor but dry, needed butter and salt! The cabbage was decent but could have been better. I couldn't even finish the beef it was so bad. My husband ordered the Guinness stew. Thankfully we ordered the potato skins or he would have left as hungry as we first walked in. It was maybe a ladle and a half tops of the stew and come to find out from our server he should have gotten rolls with it which the food runner forgot to bring. It was our first time so we had no idea. It had a strange taste to it, I thought but he did like the taste. When talking to our server about our thoughts on the stew (she never asked my opinion of the corned beef) she never once mentioned sending the manager over. She asked if I wanted a baby Guinness shot and I said sure, I thought she was trying to make up for the lack of bread. Shot was good. She took my card to pay the bill but when she came back she had added the shot on. I was FURIOUS. Just before we left she came back by our table saying the manager forgot to take off the shot and gave a updated receipt. So, all in all it was a hard earned $50 down the drain... what a joke! We will never be back again.

Seated quickly by friendly staff, good menu selection and have to agree with menu on the fish and chips, outstanding! Great meal, service and atmosphere, will return.

Horrible!!! Service was a joke. They even had a fundraising event that the server knew nothing about. Our server was not helpful w suggestions, no personality and slow. They have a very limited selection of beers which was also disappointing. To be honest I can't even remember the food I ordered as it was not impressive enough to recall. Will never return and I don't give a crap that guy whatever from diners drive ins and dives went there.

I have been waiting for years to finally eat at Culhane's and finally, it happened! The wait staff is very welcoming. Walking into the dining room is like walking into your own grandmother's dining room. The entire place feels so homey and comfortable. The food is, bar none, fantastic. I had the signature Guinness Stew with Colcannon and my friend ate the Shepard's Pie. I, of course, tasted everything and was heading straight for a food coma. We had the sausage rolls as an appetizer. I'm not sure what's all in that sauce for them, but it was delectable. As someone who embraces my Irish heritage and who has visited Irish pubs all over the world (although, sadly, none in Ireland yet), the Culhane sisters have done it completely right here. They host different events and bands throughout the year, and I've heard their Paddy's Day party is not to be missed.

Good food and service. The Guinness Beef Stew was really good. So was the Rueben. Very busy place. Great job!

Hands down one of my favorite places in Jacksonville. The food here is great and service is always top notch. My favorite is the lamb sliders...very unique especially with the added curry. Also the Ruben egg rolls are a must.

We were visiting friends and they took us here for dinner the first night. Get the Garlic Chips as an appetizer. Trust me. The shrimp and grits came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The grits were served as a grit cake and was easy to break apart. They also got a 10% discount because one of the owners workout at the LA Fitness around the corner.

Food is wonderful and the atmosphere is comfy cozy and unique.Guinness Sliders were delightfully spicy yummy bites. Irish Craic Nachos were a flavorful appetizer. The beer battered fish bites were by far the stars of the evening, the sauce was the perfect compliment to the crispy fresh fish. The wine and cheese starters was also greatly appreciated. There was an amazing sauce on the tray that was both creamy and spicy. Irish food is not usually not as flavorful and spicy as things were tonight. All together an awesome evening thank you so much Culhanes family owned

I was skeptical about eating here at first because I thought it was a bar. I am glad I did though! The shepherds pie and bangers and mash were delicious! They also had live music. I would return for dinner and drinks!

Relaxing and fun place. Great trivia! Full of locals. I'm not sure why but the food has never really gone well for me. Regardless, I keep going back!

We went here tonight with family from out of town. It was pretty crowded but we had no trouble getting a table. Tried the Reuben egg rolls first and those were great. My husband and I both ordered fish and chips. The portions were huge and I was only able to eat half of my plate. The fries had some kind of seasoning on them that was really good. Fish was perfect too. We sat in the bar area and there was a jazz band playing. It was great but we had trouble reading our menus because it was pretty dark in there. We will be going back soon!

This is my Sunday brunch go-to spot. The food is fantastic and the servers are like family! I love the Eggs Benedict of the day and the waffles always sound absolutely sinful. Their biscuits are made from scratch and melt in your mouth. I love Culhanes!

  • Lizzy C.

I was skeptical to come here since I usually don't like bar/pub food, but oh my gosh, so delicious! We started with the Colcannon Croquettes appetizer, which essentially tasted like fried mashed potatoes with a rich gravy. They only give you two but it was enough to share between 4 people. We also had soft pretzels with hot mustard dipping sauce while we sipped on Irish beers (Smithwicks, Snake bites, etc). For an entree, the shepherd's pie is where it's at! The beef/gravy mixture is seasoned exquisitely & the mashed potato/cheese combo baked on top makes the dish almost sinful. Apparently on Saturdays there is karaoke which is always entertaining. The crowd is a little older 40-60's but the atmosphere is nice & the service was great. We had a party of 10 & they seated us right away. I will def be coming back to Culhane's.

This place has all the things you need to have an enjoyable experience. Great Food / Great Atmosphere / Great Staff Food - Totally lives up to expectations. The beef stew is one of the best I ever had and you get so much, it's even good the next day for lunch. Thick, comforting, tasty....you get the idea. The batter for the Fish n Chips is so light, you barely notice it and the fish flakes like a dram. They have a nacho appetizer with fresh chips and shepherds pie that I HIGHLY recommend. Staff - Extremely friendly, really make you feel like you are at a local watering hole. They have music some days and of course, they always serve a perfect Pint of Guinness. Highly recommended

I'm giving Culhane's 5 stars as it just excels as what it is. A family run, casual, comfortable, fun Irish pub with reasonable prices and surprisingly good food. While I wouldn't say Culhane's is terrific at any one thing, it is the whole package, and overall the extremely friendly service and atmosphere, that wins the day. I have found this becoming my default stop when I'm at a loss for where to go, or have to pass some time by myself. There's always something going on at night, be it trivia, a local band, or just friendly people getting together. I have to admit, Irish and English food is not something I generally seek out. Despite this bias, Culhane's food is a step above. I've had several meals, and stopped by once for brunch as well (2 for 1 Bloody Mary's can't be beat!) The Irish Craic Nachos are terrific for a group. Nan's Sausage rolls as an appetizer or snack are also terrific. And is there any better comfort food than Shepard's Pie? Culhane's version is one of the best I've had. On nights when a band is playing, the space can get very crowded. It also tends towards an older crowd. I suggest giving it a try.

After a couple of years of wanting to try Culhanes, and now after our Ireland trip is finally set, we three mature citizens drove across town to this easily located eatery. We got there early, about 1630 on a Thursday and because the restaurant side didn't open until 1700, we were seated at a table on the bar side. Only two other tables were occupied, which suited us just fine. The waitress greeted us with a smile, took our drink orders and returned with three perfectly poured pints, two Murphy's and a Guinness. Our appetizer quickly arrived, Irish Nachos, and was a delight. This dish may be unique since none of us have ever seen anything like it before. A pile of extra crispy waffled chips covered with a slightly sweet chili, jalapeños, and sour cream which we all enjoyed and was more than enough to satisfy the three of us. The three main courses arrived in a timely and cheerful manner, two Guinness Beef Stews and a Fish Pie. Go through all the good reviews of these dishes found on Yelp and insert here. Yummy, and doggie bag worthy. At least for the other two, my plate was licked clean. We shall return.

Hands down one of my top 5 restaurants in Jacksonville (and I've been to 150+). Amazing service, impeccably clean restaurant and restrooms, and delicious eats (did I mention I love this place?). The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. Oh, and the Guinness is cold and equally tasty. No complaints! I've been to Culhane's 6x for dinner and I get the "skinny" portion (smaller, but still plenty!) of corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes (and a side of their amazing pub fries, which I douse generously with malt vinegar...) every time. It's that good. The corned beef is lean and the cabbage is bursting with flavor from the accompanying bacon pieces and caramelized onions. The boyfriend is in love with the slightly sweet Shepherd's Pie topped with cheese and the parents adore the Guinness Beef Stew. Lamb sliders were a hit too! Last time we visited, I checked in on foursquare and one of the owners informed us we'd receive a complimentary bread pudding and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

I went here for Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. The food was perfect and the server was very helpful when we had questions. He even brought me out a sample of the syrup beforehand so I could decide if I wanted the french toast or not. I got the waffles and they were perfect. My friend got the french toast and LOVED it. They have 2 for 1 mimosa's which is awesome, and if you and a friend want to share the deal, you're allowed to go halfsies on it. This place was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and I can see why. Seriously, so delicious. I checked out the rest of the menu and it looked amazing. I can't wait to go back and try all the food. I appreciate that they have "skinny" versions of some of their dishes. I mean, I'm not sure how "skinny" you can get with shephard's pie, but hey, ya never know! Can't wait to go back. Maybe bump up my rating to a 5 after I see how it is for all meals.

Culhane's location in a strip mall might seem a bit strange at first. Until I moved to Florida, I assumed anything in a strip mall was probably not worth my time. Here you might be pleased to find quality local businesses in strip malls, and Culhane's is definitely one of them. Me and my guy basically live across the street, so for a little while this was one of our default "don't wanna cook tonight" spots. The owners/staff are SUPER nice and SO accommodating -- we brought in a big party (and I'm talking 50+ rowdy drunks) and they didn't even blink. The atmosphere is probably just what you'd expect from an Irish pub. The dining area and pub area are separate, in case you want a little bit different ambience. There is plenty of beer and food. Both are kind of pricey but at least the food portions are big. I can see how this would excite Guy Fieri, and I blame his endorsement for drawing the ridiculous crowds you'll see on weekends. I've never been to Ireland so I won't pretend to know anything about the authenticity of the menu; however, I do frequent Irish pubs and have visited a few in several cities, so I'll just be honest and say the food at Culhane's hasn't been as exciting as other Irish pub grub I've had. Here's a rundown of a few items I've sampled: - Reuben egg rolls: On one hand I always order these; on the other hand I don't know if I've ever truly tasted them, because they seem to always be served hot enough to scorch off your tastebuds. - Scotch egg: Delicious. But I'm not sure if there's any way to truly mess up a scotch egg. - Irish nachos: Well, I found out that I dislike the shepherds pie here, so a mound of potato chips covered in it was less than thrilling. I've been informed that shepherds pie is supposed to be made with lamb (hence the name I suppose) and this is actually cottage pie (beef). - Drunken cheesesteak: I did not even taste a hint of Guinness with this? Maybe my tongue was still enflamed from the egg rolls. The filling-to-bread ratio was a little off for me personally (too much bread). - Guinness beef stew: Even the "skinny portion" is huge so I don't even wanna think about what the regular portion looks like. I like the idea in theory and the flavor harmony was okay overall (still no real Guinness flavor), but it has that same weird sweet taste as the shepherds pie. - Fish & chips: Possibly the biggest disappointment because the meal is $15 and you get two pieces of fish, which are heavily battered, yet the batter just ends up falling off in clumps, leaving you with bland, sad fish. And I suppose it goes without saying, but this is not a place you want to dine in if you're in any way trying to watch fat or carbs. Conclusion: a good spot all-around, but low on my personal list of favorite Irish pubs.

I'm a huge fan of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network, and saw Culhane's featured on the show in early 2010. We keep track of the restaurants they profile in Florida and periodically take trips to try them ourselves. Culhane's was by far the best one yet. The show featured the Guinness Irish Stew, so I knew what I was going to have before we got there. However, there are so many other fabulous sounding items on the menu, we'll definitely be making the trip back several more times. We were there during the Sunday brunch, and so we were fortunate to enjoy 2-for-1 Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Both were delish. The stew had a great beefy flavor and the aroma of the Guinness came wafting to our table before the waitress even set it down in front of me. My wife had the Dingle Fish Pie, and it was wickedly creamy and delicious with huge chunks of cod, salmon and shrimp. For dessert we had the Guinness Bread Pudding (also wonderful) and the pumpkin pie (which was the best I've ever tasted). Looking forward to going back, but the only problem is what to order next!

Went on Thursday thinking it was kids eat free night which is actually Tuesday. The potato soup is outstanding. My wife order a cup, I tried it and we ordered another cup. You know the fish and chips is good when you finish eating and all the tarter sauce is left over. Was very kid friendly.

Close your eyes and forget that you are in Atlantic Beach, FL - because when you come here, you have been transported to Ireland. The atmosphere, staff and especially the food are unbelievably good. My wife had corned beef and cabbage, which was tender, tasty and perfectly prepared. I had the Dingle Fish Pie, which was filled with a creamy mixture of fish, peas and potatoes - very good. Coupled with a pint of Harp and I was a happy camper. My daughter loved her fish & chips and my son enjoyed his lamb slides. The entertainment for the evening was Keith Harkin of Celtic Thunder; can you find a better Irish pub anywhere else in America? I think not.

The food was excellent. The service was as well. Corned beef tender and lean, cabbage just awesome. Fresh green beans cooked just right. Hubby had Guinness stew he loved it. Friend had cheesesteak she loved it. Portions were large. Excellent steak fries. Don't forget to order pretzel you will be hooked.

First let me start by saying that I rated Culhane's 4 stars and not 5 stars because of the service. It was trivia night and the waitress was clearly overbooked. Overall the food was great and they had a nice selection of beer, wine, and Irish whiskey. I started with the Pub Pretzel with deviled mustard. The mustard had an awesome kick. Next I had the shepherds pie with cheddar cheese on top (skinny portion which is plenty). It was very tasty but the next time I would leave off the cheese because it made it more difficult to eat. My companions had the Bourbon Guinness Ribs which were fall of the bone, Kaye's Pasta Mac (upscale mac & cheese), and Guinness Beef Stew (all ample portion sizes). My companions all said they would get their meals again. Very happy with the food. We were staying in Southern Jacksonville for a family event and it was definitely worth the drive to Atlantic Beach to sample Culhane's Irish fare. If you are in the area, give it a try.

The only reason I'm giving Culhane's a 4 of 5 is I haven't got much experience to write from when it comes to Irish pubs or pub grub. I had only ever been to McKnight's in St. Augustine, and MY how I miss it so much (God rest Roy ). I truly found a great fish and chips (and soo much more) place! I'm uploading a few pics of the two visits I've been- enjoy. I have to say I love the environment, the music there, the ambiance, basically everything- especially their consistency in excellent service, great prices and hospitality! I know the location is a bit odd, yes its in a strip mall- but I like that! I love going to the beach but hate having to walk six miles to go eat, so this works. Please sisters and staff of Culhanes, don't change a thing??

My husband and I were staying in downtown Jacksonville to attend a four day conference, and while searching for Irish pubs on Yelp I saw this place listed, and thought we should give it a try on our first night in town. The drinks and service were awesome, and the owner of the restaurant and her trainee were very attentive to our needs all night. I had the lamb sliders which apparently were featured on Diner's Drive-ins, and Dives a few days before...who knew?, and thought they were "okay." The sliders were bit dry, and I really didn't taste any lamb flavor at all. These were listed as small bites, and came with no side, so I ordered some fries a.k.a chips...which were amazing! My husband and I also shared their whiskey wings, which were great, and he ordered their fish and chips which he thought were great.

Culhane's is a friendly, fun, family-run Irish pub. I love heading here for brunch to get two-for-one mimosas and an omelet with home fries. I am a brunch fiend, and this is definitely one of my favorite places in town to get it. My husband is a big fan of bloody Marys, and he gives those a thumbs up, too! The staff are all really nice, the facility is clean and inviting, and the ambiance is perfect for a casual date or to grab a meal with a few friends.

This is a very interesting place sponsors various causes and offers discounts to military and teachers. YAY! Full bar and happy hour. We went there to attend a live band concert, Scottish Battlefield. Very interesting and different menu. The Guinness Ribs were the best BBQ ribs I've had anywhere and the Chicken Dinner was excellent. Service very good. Reasonable prices. We will go there again.

I'll admit it, I saw the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and I saw that Guy Fieri went there, so I figured I'd check it out. Located in a strip mall, you seat yourself when you arrive. There is seating both outside and inside. Our waitress was extremely warm and friendly, and very helpful. I would actually go as far as saying that she was refreshing. She checked in on us often and never once did my water glass go empty. If good service is what you want, you'll find it here. Now on to the food. I ordered the Guinness Beef Stew. I'll save you the reading, it was ok, but not as delicious as Guy described. I've had better, that is all I am saying. My wife had the Fish & Chips. For some reason, she didn't think they were great, but I think they were better than a lot of other places I have been. While it's a pub, there are children's portions on the menu. Overall, it was a good experience. The prices are reasonable, and the service was top notch. I do not know that I would ever go out of my way for this place, but if you are a foodie and follow Guy, this is one of the places he has been. and has enjoyed (i.e. relied on) the residual effects of his visit.

I drove four hours for this food, and one bite told me it was worth it. The Brunswick Stew is out of this world, and the Reuben Egg Rolls were to die for. It is a little pricey, but you get enough food to feed a village. The staff was extremely entertaining and even gave us directions to UNF! Will definitely be back!

I have been going to Culhane's for years and have watched the place get better and better! I have never had a bad experience. It is the sort of place you can bring friends, a date, or even grandma (mine loves to go to Culhane's when she visits). The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious -- I tend to order the fish and chips, and they have live music quite a few nights a week. If you are looking for delicious Irish food or a laid back place to hang out with friends, I would highly recommend Culhane's!

This great little Irish Pub is a MUST SEE for anyone living or traveling through Jacksonville, Florida. I literally dream about their beef stew and I normally don't even care for the dish. The Dingle Fish Pie (don't let the name fool you), named for the location in Ireland the dish was created from, is delicious, rich, and loaded with hunks of fish and shrimp. The normal Irish Pub staples can also be found like shepherds pie, corned beef, and an amazing slider made from ground lamb. Great music, a friendly atmosphere and the fabulous four sisters that own this quaint establishment make this an enjoyable event as well as a meal. Stop in and thank me later!

IRISH NACHOS!!! That was one of the best appetizers I have ever eaten. Hardy big waffle potato chips with the awesome Sheppard's pie filling and cheese and sour cream. Ahhhh soo good. Cost as much as my entree at $12.95 but worth every penny. Their sampler plate was ehhh... average at best not really worth it. Guinness stew that I ordered was good but didn't come out that hot. Others in my table ordered Dinglefish pie. ( I had a bite, and it was pretty good creamy good amount of seasoning) I didn't taste the Rueben that another ordered, but it looked like a good sandwich. The Atlantic Salmon salad seemed a bit skimpy for $14.95, but I didn't taste that either. OVERALL: This is really a great place. I would have given it 5 stars, but the service was a bit slow and my Guinness stew was a bit cold when it came out. I highly recommend this place especially for those Irish Nachos. I was the driver so I can't comment on the drinks since this is a pub.

Arrived on a whim as we were in the area. Place was jammed packed on a Friday at 7:00. We had to wait for a table. Reservations are recommended for larger parties. We were seated about a half hour later. Our waiter was very attentive and surprisingly upbeat. Drinks were prompt and the Guiness was perfectly poured. We started with the Ruben eggrolls. Everyone enjoyed them and the Russian dipping sauce was perfect. I would recomended a double order for a party of four as ours left everyone wanting more. For entrees we had the stew, shepherds pie, a chicken wrap and the daily special which was a pan fried trout with mashed and a veggie. Everyone was pleased with their order and plates were cleaned. Refills and another perfectly poured draft were supplied by our attentive waiter. Worth the wait if your hankering for some stick to your ribs Irish comfort food.

Nice place with very good food and drink (Murphy's stout was creamy and fantastic) but prices seem too high for what you get. For example, $15 for a bowl of Guiness Beef Stew served with no bread! We will only go back for happy hour in the future when they serve some nice appetizers for only $5.95 (the corned beef shepard's pie was excellent and enough for dinner for one) and the beer and wine is priced more reasonably. It probably shows my "advanced" age (lol) but I have a hard time paying over $5 for a glass of beer, ale, stout or cheap, house wine (wine that I can buy for $5 a bottle).

Oh man them biscuits and gravy. With the bangers. And the bacon. And the (homemade) corned beef and hash. The food at brunch is powerful good. POWERFUL good. Good bloody mary too if Meghan is slingin' the booze. Only gig on this place is the stupid Georgia Bulldogs crap on the walls. They need to get real and put some Notre Dame Fighting Irish stuff up. Not just because they're an Irish Pub and that would MAKE SENSE but because Georgia Bulldogs are wack and Notre Dame is better than Zebra Cakes. (I really love Zebra Cakes) Powerful good brunch. Get some.

I know this place is an Irish Pub, and their burgers are not what they are known for, but it was a burger I ordered. I can't say I was all that impressed with it. It was just an average burger, and most definitely was not worth $10. Five Guys makes a better, juicier burger with a cheaper price tag. I didn't like the fact I was charged $1.00 to get mashed potatoes instead of the steak fries which came with the burger. This made no sense to me because on the "sides" menu, steak fries are $3 and mashed potatoes are $3. Same price, so why the up-charge? Even though the up-charge was ridiculous, I am glad I went with the mashed potatoes because they are some of the best I have had. The real show-stopper here is their warm bread pudding with ice cream. Bread pudding is one of my favourite desserts, and I have tried it all over Jacksonville. No one even comes close to getting bread pudding as right as Culhanes! It's truly the stuff one can dream about! If you don't have room for dessert after your meal, I suggest you get an order togo sans the ice cream. You won't regret it! Service here is great. Friendly and attentive. I don't cross the ditch all too often, so this isn't a regular place for me. In the future when I'm at the beach, this won't be a place I'll personally consider for dinner, but I will definitely be back for dessert. It's also a great place for some late night drinks with friends.

Finally got out with the hubby to this amazing Irish Pub! Pam is our server (yes, currently we are sitting here feeding our faces!) and she's been great! The food that we have at the moment is the bread pudding and the crate garlic chippers which are AMAZEBALLS!! Can't wait for the Dingleberry fish pie to come out... Peace! Gotta go eat!!

This is a unique gem located in a strip mall...but don't be fooled...the inside is gorgeous and homey. The food is wonderful and the staff is super friendly. Really can't wait to come back again!

Out for a nice bike ride and a good meal. I had the baby back ribs and they were so good. The meat was so tender it fell off the bones. And the bbq sauce was very tasty with just the right amount applied. Hubby had the fish and chips and that was very good as well. Topped off the meal with a pitcher of Yuengling. The waitress, Lauren, was very attentive and the service was top notch. Will be back for more of their great dishes.

Unlike most of Jacksonville I did not initially learn about Culhane's from Guy Fierij; I learned when I had the pleasure to attend CM Allie's first Elite Event. Finally had a chance to make it back with my husband when we were on an unofficial bar crawl through the beaches. The restaurant side wasn't open yet, but we found ourselves a place at the high-tops in the bar. Ordered myself a Snakebite and perused the menu for some snacks. Wasn't too hungry but needed a little something. I decided to go with the Guinness beef sliders (which I had tasted at the OYE). They were every bit delicious as I remember. The meat was tender and juicy, the jalapeños packed the right amount of heat, the sliders were the perfect size. My husband ordered the Reuben egg rolls & the lamb sliders. I'm not a fan of the traditional reuben sandwich, but I tasted this and it was good. To end the night on a sweet note, I ordered a piece of the Red Velvet cake (desserts are all from Cinotti's). While the flavor was good, the slice I had was a little dry - like it hadn't been cut/served in a couple days. I don't blame the restaurant for that at all, it just wasn't what I had hoped for. Definitely will be adding Culhane's to my regular rotation of places to hang out at the beach.

Fries with Curry Sauce. Do you know how much I love fries with curry sauce? Well Culhane's predicted how just much I love fries with curry sauce by making the most wonderfully thick-cut steak fries and an excellent accompanying curry sauce to dip them in. Don't get me wrong America, there's a time and a place for those skinny anorexic carb sticks you call French Fries, however when there's dipping to be done there's more satisfaction to be had from a plate of steak fries than anything else. Culhane's is a softly lit pub divided into two sections: one side offering a full bar, seating and an area for live music and the other side offering more booths and diner seating, along with seating outside. The have a great range of imported beers, whiskeys, wines and other alcoholic tipples and have a fantastic menu offering a mix of Irish, British and American food favourites, including (Starters) Reuben Egg Rolls, Irish Craic Nachos, Corned Beef & Cheddar Dip, Salads and Soups, (Entrées) Burgers, Fish Tacos, Guinness Ribs, Shrimp Grits, Shepherds Pie, Guiness Beef Stew, Meatloaf Dinner and Kearney's My only complaint is their Scotch Eggs. My Mum makes Scotch Eggs, I grew up with Scotch Eggs: a baseball sized ball of pork meat, mixed with herbs & seasoning, wrapped around a boiled egg. The thing is big enough to be a meal in itself. So when I saw Scotch Eggs on the Appetizer menu, I bullied The Hublet into ordering. The thing was about the size of a golf ball! A little pricey for its size at $9, but admittedly delicious. Worth trying at least once. During our various visits to Culhane's, we've eaten the following: Reuben Egg Rolls: fantastic, great balance of everything inside a perfectly crispy wonton. Dirty Slapper Burger: everything you could want. Chips with curry sauce: did I mention that I love their chips with curry sauce? Shepherds Pie: tasty, savoury and almost surprisingly sweet sauce that still works very well. Bangers & Mash: this place does great mashed potatoes and their sausages are delicious. Kyle's Fish & Chips: Culhane's have a fantastic light & crispy batter to their fish and this is a great portion size. Culhane's offers both a great bar with local & imported drinks and a varied, quality menu and manages to be a good venue choice for the whole rainbow spectrum of nights out, from romantic dinners to taking the kids somewhere to live music and so on.

I'm not really sure how to feel about Culhane's yet, as I've had varied experiences there. My first experience was the night before July 4th a couple years ago. We got there at about 9:45 and I tried to order something off the menu but they told me their kitchen was closed, which was annoying. The second time, we went for brunch and it was honestly terrible. According to my boyfriend, they used to have a really good brunch menu, but now it's limited (or it was on this morning, at least...). We ordered the corn beef hash with scrambled eggs. It tasted like it had been sitting out for days. Not what I was expecting for an Irish place. Luckily, third times a charm with this place. I went on New Years day (about a year after the bad brunch experience), looking for something greasy to help my hangover. I ordered the rueben, which was DELICIOUS. Not too much thousand island, the corned beef was full of flavor and the sauerkraut was piled high on a dark rye bread. It was served with steak fries, which were also good. The sandwich is also huge; I only ate half and brought the rest home for later. I think you need to come at the right time and order the right thing to have a good experience here, but the atmosphere is fun (definitely feels like an irish pub) and the bartenders are friendly. They also have huge screens for watching sports. I've never eaten in the dining room, but I assume the experience would be comparable. Also, the place was featured on Guy Fierji's show. I'm definitely willing to give Culhane's another shot now. Since it has been so long since I had gone in the past, I think things are definitely on the up and up there.

Culhane's offers fantastic and authentic Irish fare. I always judge an Irish pub by the quality of their Shepherd's pie and Culhane's is stellar. It's sweeter than the typical Shepherd's pie which As someone with a sweet tooth I love. Others may not like it for that reason. They offer a few different sliders. My son tried the cod sliders and really enjoyed them. Overall I think Culhane's gets 4 stars for authenticity and taste!

Didnt even get an opportunity to review this place. Yelp says they open at 3. Door says they open at 4. Regardless I went for the door at 4:10 and no luck. Even walked around to see if there was another door. It definitely sucks because all the outside tables were set up for service so I guess they just weren't ready to open up the doors. Maybe next time.

I love the Guiness stew, the shepherds pie and the lamb sliders. They have great Irish beer on tap. I wish they had online reservations, but I don't mind waiting for a table with a pint in my hand.

How awesome is this little gem? I am only sorry it took me too long to figure out what other Yelpers and the one and only Guy Fieri already knew. Owned by four Irish sisters, don't let the "it's in a strip mall mentality" keep you from stopping on in. This place is the real Irish deal. Headed out this past weekend with my very Irish boyfriend for a Saturday night treat. Walked in, and immediately welcomed with smiling faces. The dining room to your left, and a huge bar area located just to the right. Since the weather was nice, we opted to sit outside. (This place is pup friendly, next time, we are bringing the wee one with...) First of all, the music is completely contagious. Traditional Irish tunes that had us *attempting* to Riverdance all over the place. We just could not keep our feet still and it put a happy smile on our faces. We were busted by our awesome and attentive server Dawn, who got a good laugh. If a Scotch egg is on the menu, I am going to have it. So we started with that and Nana's sausage rolls and a few beers. Scotch egg was on point! Great crispy breading, plenty of sausage surrounding the perfectly hard-boiled egg... YUM. I normally go straight for the Coleman's, but the sauce provided was too damn good. A mix of sweet and spicy mustard on top of a bed of mashed tates, it did not stand a chance. The sausage rolls had just a small hint of onion and spice, wrapped in a delicate and light flaky pastry. I knew without even looking at the menu, I was going for the corned beef and cabbage... but really wanted to try the famous Guinness stew as well.... then I saw the Lamb sliders.... The corned beef is marinated in Guinness and gave it a nice, rich flavor. I busted out the Coleman's for this one and wow. Un-real. I was advised to get the skinny portion, but was sad that I did. The corned beef disappeared rather quickly! The cabbage is sautéed with onion and bacon giving it a sweet flavor, added a dash of salt and watched that disappear as well. I had a few bites of my boyfriend's Guinness Beef stew... rich and flavorful.... with the hints of beer and barley, very complex with tender bites of beef. A seriously thick bowl that will fill you up. Well, it just wasn't enough for us. We placed an order for the lamb sliders to go with an order of bread pudding. And I am really glad we did. I am not a huge bread pudding fan... but was offered a taste later that night. Thick, egg-y, and delicious, I ended up eating half the order before it was pried out of my little hands! We got around to the sliders the next day. They came with fries... and to our surprise, even nuked, the fries were amazing. We both looked at each other, as if this was the true testament of fry-dom, or chip-dom I guess I should say, that if they were THIS good the next day...just imagine them fresh. Drool. The Lamb sliders were deliciously seasoned and fantastic, even nuked... juicy and melt-n-your-mouth good. The only thing that would have made them better, is a bit of cheese... but noting that for our next order. Oh we will back. And it will be soon.

Culhane's is the perfect spot to go for some great eats and drinks. They offer 2 for 1 Bloody Marys and Mimosas on Sunday during brunch (before 2). They're $8 each, so the deal makes it $4 each or one $8, one for free. Not the best deal, but one nonetheless. My friend said the Bloody Mary was a little spicy for her taste, and you can't mix (ie- one bloody mary, one mimosa), so be sure to keep that in mind when ordering. Their corned beef is on point, and their bread pudding is one of my favorite things- served warm, with ice cream! I haven't tried much else as I've only been there a couple times, but the staff has always been welcoming, prompt, and knows the menu very well. They are able to accommodate large groups given notice- I've been here for a yelp event, and a book club event. Keep Culhane's in mind if you find yourself in Atlantic Beach!

This place was fantastic! I'm always skeptical about any place previously featured on television, as they tend to get lazy because the publicity brings in enough business regardless. Culhane's, however, did not disappoint. Culhane's is a relaxed and casual atmosphere with great service and great food. I made a reservation via their website and used a beer flight groupon with no issues. I was very pleased and would return to this pub!

A good bar with a whole lot and some good to fantastic Irish grub. I have only been a couple of times but I always have a good time. The bartenders know what they are doing and make some good cocktails. They have a really good bread pudding. Not better than what I have had at other restaurants. But for what it is, I liked it.

We've gone a few times for drinks and had dinner this last time. Had the burger and was not disappointed. Drink specials are on most nights and do not miss the garlic fries. They are a perfect little snack with drinks. Although we struggle to share so one order each. They also do karaoke most Saturdays so even if you aren't going to sing it's very entertaining.

Starts with Megan, offering a sample of shepherds pie...sold! I was not sure what to expect, but consider myself an expert on quality food. This is Comfort Food from GO! Great service and great food. Very flavorful, hot, and plentiful. I will be back when anywhere close. Great atmosphere too!

It's so hard to find good Irish food, but Culhanes has has it all. The atmosphere is dark and looks like an actual Irish Pub. I like every time I go there. This place has some great staff seems to be fully trained and know the menu. Culhanes is a bar and the a restaurant, both are separated from each other. It was very loud in the bar, but my taste buds were in heaven.

We were excited to try Culhanes because it was featured on Diner's, Drive Ins, and Dives. I love Irish Pub food - McGuire's in Pensacola, Fl has set the standard for me and if you've ever been there you know what I'm talking about. Amazing food, reasonably priced, great atmosphere (Irish music included) and great service. Well, I was hoping for something similar with Culhanes..... When we walked in we were relegated to the pub side as the restaurant side was closed. We were a little taken back because the atmosphere was lacking except for a few historical pictures and posters of Irish beer. It felt gross but we reminded ourselves that we were there for the food. Looking forward to some authenticity on the menu we noticed that a lot of what was offered was standard American dishes with a quasi or watered down-Irish flare. There were the staples (Shepard's Pie, Rueben) but some of the other choices caught my eye. The food was good but nothing to write home about. Also it seemed over priced. Our server was pleasant and very attentive but smelled like cigarettes and mouth wash. What we eagerly anticipated turned out to be a let down. What did it for me was the poor atmosphere - If I'm going to an Irish Pub, I don't want to hear classic rock in the background. Culhanes could've been "any scuzzy dive, USA" and that's not what we sat through 40 minutes of traffic for. Honestly, we felt cheated. If you've never been anywhere else or if you're going there to drink and food is an afterthought, you may like it.

This isn't the first visit, and definitely won't be the last. We drove up to Jacksonville on a Saturday to help our daughter move into her new apartment and do some furniture shopping. As it was getting towards dinnertime and since we were in Jacksonville, we had to eat at Culhanes. We arrived "early" around 4:45pm and initially was going to sit in the bar area, but it was a little too drafty for my wife & daughter (it was a Wintery, overcast, and cold day), so the friendly staff moved us over to a booth on the other side in the main eating area. We ordered Karen's Scotch Eggs for an appetizer. They were excellent! For our main course, my wife got the beef stew, and my daughter and I ordered the Shepards pie (with cheddar cheese). Both of us agree it's the best Shepards pie we've had! My wife was a little disappointed with her beef stew as it had a little too much "thyme" taste for her, but still good. Of course the Guinness was excellent. The service was prompt, attentive, and cheerful. Each time we've visited, we've been treated like longtime regulars. It's with this type of family-attitude service and outstanding food that makes Culhanes my favorite place to eat when in Jacksonville. Thanks Culhane Sisters!

Not really a fan of Irish fare but dropped in for a quick bite. Pretty dark inside but lots of tables. Bartenders were very nice and friendly, offering beer samples and food suggestions. I ordered the loaded spud soup which was really good. They also have a pretty tasty brunch menu as well. The 2 for 1 bloody mary bar is a good deal but they could certainly use more fixins to choose from. There was only green olives, two mixes to choose from, lemons and limes, and some seasoning with which to rim the glass. Would've been nice to have more, like maybe banana peppers, asparagus stalks or even celery. Really good draft selection.

Not DDD worthy. None of his show's are apparently. Our food was overpriced ($15 for overcooked mussels), 20 minutes for cold bread, and $14 for Fish and Chips which was ONE piece of greasy "fresh Atlantic Cod". Yeah right. Owner comped the mussel dish as we weren't given a price on it. She blamed the price on the Oil Spill!! So since when exactly did the oil hit Prince Edward Island? News to me. We like Captain D's Fish better. Trust me, save your money, buy a corned beef at Publix and throw it in the crock pot. You'll be much happier and have more in your wallet.

We went to Jax for a weekend and had to try this place out. We had seen a show about the food on Food Network. This place is run by four sisters from Ireland. It is a pub/restaurant in a strip mall in Jacksonville off Atlantic Boulevard near the beaches. The staff are friendly and the music from the live band in the pub was good. We waited about 15 minutes for a table in the restaurant. Service was a little slow and not overly impressive. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful however. The bread that came out before our appetizer was marvelous. Fresh, warm and home-made. We had the Colcannon Croquettes for an appetizer. There are two huge croquettes, which are mashed potatoes with cabbage, bacon and rolled in breading, then fried. OMG fantastic. I did not care so much for the gravy they were served with, they were wonderful on their very own. My guy had the fish and chips. I had the Guiness beef stew. When I smelled his, I had to taste. The fish was so incredibly fresh, it had to have been swimming not a half hour earlier. It was moist, tender, and marvelously breaded in a beer batter that was crispy and crunchy without being greasy. His chips were crisp and still had a lovely potato-y center. My beef stew was a large portion in a soup bowl It was very tender and moist, in a rich brown savory gravy with carrots, potatoes, onions, and mushrooms. I could not finish it and had to take the rest home with me. This menu looks so good that we have to come back. I want to try the potato leek soup and perhaps the shepherd's pie. Or maybe those fish and chips. This is definitely a place to which we want to return. Try it, you'll like it.

As other reviewers have noted, the ambience is excellent. You step out of a typical Florida strip mall and step into a traditional Irish pub. Kudos to whomever decorated the restaurant! I went in a small group, and we had the curry fries and Nana's sausage rolls as appetizers. While I didn't have any of the sausage rolls, both got rave reviews from our party. Only two of us got entrees and we both got the Guinness beef stew... amazing. Simply amazing. I would highly recommend this, especially in the middle of winter. Solid, hearty food which will 'stick to your ribs', as Grandma used to say. Service was phenomenal as well. Our server was exceptionally cheerful and seemed interested in making sure that we had a good time; no glass went unfilled for more than 60 seconds. She was completely on point the entire time we were there. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys the pub experience!

Culhane's Irish Pub & Restaurant Review Atmosphere: The atmosphere in Culhane's is very casual and easy going. When you enter, the bar area is in front, just off to the left. There is ample seating at the bar and the tables around it. There is a separate and spacious dining area with many booths and tables further to the left. Culhane's is much more than your average bar...this place makes you feel comforable and "at home." Their clientele is varied - couples, singles, and families gather there for the food and the nightly events. The seperate bar and dining room layout is great - when dining, one can hardly hear any spillover noise from the bar when they have music or trivia nights. This makes it ideal for conversations or celebrations! The decor is what one would expect in a pub - unpretentious and alot of wood all over the place. Menu: The menu features traditional Irish Pub fare with nightly specials. There is a good variety and balance of menu items (Click here to see the menu) The dinner menu offers 2 portions - the "Skinny" and regular (I thought this was a great dining option not found at many eateries...) For Appetizers we had the following items: CRAB CAKES Seared crab cakes served over a summer veggie slaw & a citrus chipotle aioli. The crabcakes were good and the pairing with the slaw and citrus chipotle made for an interesting combination of flavors! MUNSTER FLAT BREAD Thinly baked garlic flat bread served crisp with ripe tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, bacon & caramelized onions. This was quite good! Perfect snack to share while drinking and talking. Cripsy bacon make everything so much better! NANA'S SAUSAGE ROLLS A blend of Irish sausage, onions & spices rolled in a light pastry, then baked & served with deviled mustard. I enjoyed this very much...perfect bite sized morsels to eat with all the other appetizers. Many times better than the best "pigs in a blanket" you've ever had! Recommended! PotatoLeekSoupPotato Leek Soup Thick, hearty and NOT salty. For our Entrees we had: GUINNESS BEEF STEW Certified Angus beef braised in Guinness beer & slow cooked With barley, baby portabellas, carrots & onions in savory gravy. Served over diced Yukon gold potatoes. "Guy Fieri's Favorite 2010" - This dish was very filling and satisfying! The beef stew was very tender and flavorful and the gravy just delicious! Some gravys tend to be salty but this one was perfectly seasoned. I asked for a bead to dip in the gravy and by the end of the meal I was stuffed. Will definately order this again and will recommend this to anyone (especially now that the season is getting cooler!) ARTHUR'S FISH & CHIPS Fresh Atlantic cod dipped in a crispy Guinness beer batter. Served with fries & tartar sauce. The cod was nicely battered and light in texture...and not greasy at all. DINGLE FISH PIE Fresh Atlantic cod, shrimp, salmon, diced potatoes & peas in a garlic seasoned cream, crusted with cheddar cheese. "Guy Fieri's Favorite 2010" - This dish was good, and the seafood in the cream sauce was a very good combination. RIBS Fall off the bone, tender, and nicely seasoned. Service: The service at Culhane's was good even though almost all the table during dinner had patrons. The waitstaff knew the menu inside and out and was able to explain dishes very thoroughly to help make a good dining decision. The attention was great - when I ordered a scotch, the bartender came out of his station to verify my order! We did not have to wait for our drinks and dinner was served in a very timely manner. Mary Jane, one of the owner-managers, was very hospitable. By the end of the evening - between drinks and dinner - we were there for about 2 hrs., not realizing the time had passed. What that means to me is that we all enjoyed the ambiance, food, and hospitality of Culhane's. Would definately recommend you to visit! Visit Jax-Dining.com to see Pics!

Went there for dinner tonite because we saw it featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The atmosphere is great and seems to have a decent happy hour. For our appetizers, I got the potato & leek soup and my fiance got the potato skins. I liked both. The consistency of the cream in the potato and leek soup had broken but overall tasted good and wasn't too salty. The potato skins were good too - your standard potato skins except they put sweet, sauteed onions on top which I thought was a nice touch and contrast of the salty bacon. My fiance didn't care for it so much. For our entrees, my fiance got the fish and chips and I got the shepherd's pie. The cod in the fish and chips was really tasty and fresh but I was disappointed in the serving size. For $13.95 they only give you 2 pieces of cod - granted they're large pieces but thought they could add one more. The fries weren't anything exciting. The shepherd's pie was a little disappointing. I'm not an expert on Irish fare but I thought the pie was a little watery, closer to a soup. I was really looking forward to the mashed potato layer with the slightly brown top but the Irish cheese I had ordered on it was melted on the mash and the mash wasn't spread out to cover the stew. The mash didn't have much flavor to them either. I wish I had read the reviews and gotten the Guinness stew. I'll try it next time but I'm not rushing to go back. I do want to check out the HH though with their $5 menu items.

Corned beef and cabbage is good here, but I like the Euro's Mac n Cheese better. Penne pasta with a cream cheese sauce, garlic and chives. Yum! The service here is ok, but I wasn't impressed with the service or in house catering when we had a large party (30 people). There was very little discount with the event we had planned here and the food took forever to be served. When the chafing dishes came out containing our buffet-style dinner, the dishes did not all come out at the same time. As a result, we ran out of food in a very short period of time. Not a great experience, some people at the event ended up ordering their own dishes because the wait was so long. I think for small parties and drinks this is a good little spot. I do like the menu selection more than some other Irish pubs here in town as well.

Saw this as well on DDD. Everytime I go away, I look for a place my man Guy has gone too and check it out. This place is a gem. I went to Jax to play softball and checked out Culhanes. Service was great, of course it was very empty. I had the Beef Stew which was amazing. My buddy has the Shepard pie and that was the highlight of his weekend. Food is awesome, beer is cold, service is great. Can't go wrong at Culhanes!!

Great time, awesome Irish pub fare. We are big fans of Guy Fieri's diners drive inn's and dives and this place was on the list of his visits. The menu was full of Irish favorites but I can only eat so much. We had Kaye's Mac & Cheese, loaded nachos And the lamb sliders with a Dijon balsamic smear. Yummo!!! We will have to come back to try some of the more traditional Irish food like the Shepard's pie

Perfection is the enemy of good. Voltaire! That may have been written to describe the crab cakes at this place. My wife's Guiness beef stew was certainly very good but might still have to consider perfection its enemy--certainly no complaints from us, though. Yes, I too, first discovered this place by watching "Triple D", otherwise known as Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Made a special point of keeping it on my watch list until next in Florida and drove about twenty miles out of my way to go here. Well worth the effort. Service was upbeat and flawless. They had a computer meltdown and delayed taking our order for about ten minutes until they could get it fixed...interesting that they couldn't use paper and pencil, but the place is big! And yet they kept us apprised of the situation up to the minute, and in spite of the size of this place it seems very home-made in all the best ways.

My best friend and I came here for St. Patrick's Day. It was awesome. The crowd was cool. We sat down and ordered a guiness and a killians. Beer was awesome. Then she had shepards pie and I had a reuben. They were both Yum!!! Then we had the bread pudding with ice cream. I'm not a fan of bread pudding but this one was AMAZING!!!!!! Like i could eat 3 or 4 of them. Had a food coma! :) Then we each had a black and tan. Yum. I would come here again on a date other than st. patrick's day to try the full menu.

Went to Culhane's yesterday for a quick bite and was a bit disappointed. The decor is great and very pub looking with the woodwork and the browns and hunter greens. I ordered the Lamb Sliders and won't do so again. The Lamb flavor was good and gamey, but the meat was overcooked and the aoli sauce was too mustardy for my taste. I can't believe that this is one of Guy's favorites. But, alas, I must remember that he is a burger guy! My buddy ordered the Reuben Rolls and they were great! Why is it that whatever the other person orders is always better tasting than your own? The only complaint that I had with them was the dipping sauce. They took the traditional Thousand Island dressing and tried to put a twist on it. The result was to spicy and vinegary for me. Some things just shouldn't be messed with. I will go back and try other things on the menu and get in on happy hour which I hear is great.

A must if you are visiting the Atlantic Beach area in Jacksonville. The ambiance is warm and cozy and the food and drink are superb. Most importantly, the service is outstanding and the staff is warm and friendly. Whether you are looking for a watering hole to enjoy a few drinks with friends or looking for a family friendly restaurant with great food, this is the place!

The first time we tried to eat at Culhane's, the place was pretty much booked for a party and the only way we could get a table was to wait for about an hour for a table outside. Florida + summer + hot Irish food = not cool. We decided to try one more time to eat here tonight and woohoo....we got right in. The staff was very friendly and joked around with us. As soon as our waitress said one of their appetizer specials was Irish Nachos, we were sold! They were AWESOME. Best thing we ate. It consisted of homemade potato chips, topped with shepherds pie, shredded cheese, queso sauce, jalapenos and sour cream. My husband had the bangers and mash. It came with 4 sausages on a mound of freshly mashed potatoes and thick onion gravy. Very flavorful, especially the gravy. My friend had the fish tacos. Doesn't really sound Irish, but they took the fish they'd use for fish n chips and stuck it in the taco. Plus, this Irish Pub is close to the beach, so maybe that's why they incorporated it. He said they were pretty tasty. His meal only came with 2 good sized tacos and no side. He ordered a side salad with honey mustard and warm bacon vinaigrette and that was good as well. I'm a sucker for a Reuben, so I had to try it. It was very good, not the most outstanding Reuben but I was happy. It was packed with corned beef and for some reason they put the thousand island dressing on the side. It was a little sweeter then I've had before, which was different. The fries had a great seasoning and crisp to them. All in all, this place was pretty good and satisfying, but I'm not dying to go back. If I'm ever weirdly craving Irish food though, I'd probably only make my way back for those killer nachos.

Fantastic spot- it is definitely my go to restaurant and/or bar choice in Jax. Great atmosphere- friendly, inviting, and fun. I have recommended it over and over again to friends and family, old and young and its always a hit. Food is wonderful and menu has a nice variety to please a diverse crowd- try their Sunday brunch, amazing!! Love that the pub-side and dining room side are separate so you can really chose which kind of experience you want to have. Entertainment is great with a mix of live music and two nights of really fun pub trivia. Basically it boils down to Culhane's= good food, good people, good times :)

This is one of our favorites when we lived in Jacksonville, and we still visit when we can. It has gone from a small quiet Irish pub to a little more loud. But the beer is still cold ( or not as needed) and the food is still good. Great place to catch up with friends over a pint and maybe catch some live music.

Great true Irish Pub owned by sisters from Ireland. All the dishes are great. Reubens, Shepherd's Pie, cornbeef and cabbage are just a few fantastic meals. Highly recommended.

Great Irish restaurant! Friendly and quick service. Shepherd's Pie was tasty (they could up the potato to beef ratio but still great). Happy hour is the best deal, $3.50 for all the imports on tap, Guinness, Smithwick's and a couple of others. Only negative is location in a strip mall but the interior is traditional Ireland.

My wife took me here for my 60th birthday last night and we had (as we always do here) a great time. I had the fish and chips and a Guinness draft and my wife had the grilled chicken w/whiskey sauce and iced tea. Everything was excellent and the service provided by Taylor was exemplary! I highly recommend Culhanes Irish Pub to anyone who wants to have a great time and fantastic Irish food.

The fun ambiance from the get go was great! The food was excellent. I highly recommend this place at the beach to anyone. They also have Kareoke on Tuesday/Sat. I think they are closed on Mondays. The wait staff was very fun, attentive and enegetic.

I stopped here with the family, after hearing about it on the Food Network show "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives." We had a wide variety of things from their menu. I myself had their Guinness Beef Stew, and shared a Shepherds Pie. We had a party of like 10, so I got a good taste of their menu, and overall I'd say this place is pretty good, but nothing amazing. Overall its what I'd of expected of an Irish Pub and Restaurant, with a bit more options than usual, and dependable food. I'd recommend this place, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. foodnetwork.com/local/fl…

Great Irish/sports bar. Had good drink specials. I had the Mayport shrimp with penne pasta appetizer and fish and chips for dinner. Everything was really good. I definitely recommend the Mayport shrimp!

Great restaurant with good food! Don't go if you want to enjoy watching a football game in the bar. Almost every time I have been to watch my favorite team, they have trivia, karaoke or a sports talker, all from a local radio station, that spoils a good football game. DO NOT expect to enjoy a sports bar setting.
